Hello,
It’s been a while. The spring rains have almost come, and gone. The kids are growing and settling. And Sabobo is wondering when his master’s coming back. Two weeks.
Just one of many in-the-meantime adventures follows.
It started out innocently enough.
Smiling and piling in the van.
Maybe Faith had a premomition,
and maybe Courage should have listened to his shirt.
But when they arrived in Athi River the guys piled out
without a care.
Only Courage faltered at this scene outside...The Dentist's Office.
The girls found magazines to read in the waiting room.
And this to read on the wall. Translation: "We'll yank a bad molar for a little under three bucks, and any other chopper for about two fifty."
Dr Ken turned out to be a fine dentist and man. Steve had his turn.
Lucky said, "Ahhhh."
And Prudence opened wide.
Tina kept Mikey close for moral support.
And came out smiling.
Simon had the worst of it. He has come to us recently, and sometimes when kids haven't had adequate nutrition in their ealy lives, their teeth never get strong.
Dr. Ken, who would accept no payment for any of the kids, did heroic work and was able to save most of Simon's compromised chompers.
But not all. He had to yank a couple of the worst.
Simon, bucked up and took it all.
Even though it left him a little dazed and confused.
But life here's not just pulling teeth...it's pulling grass.
And driving in the pick up
And hugs from Mama Joy
And going to Tusky's Supermarket
And finding good stuff there
And being on a team
And, of course, rooting for the right team.
.
Yours for regular check ups,
.
David

May 22, 2011 at 3:42 pmThanks, David for keeping us in touch with the kids. Through these little stories we are getting to know them. Poor Simon — brave boy! It is another success for the “team” to know that they have all had dental check ups. Bless Dr. Ken for his generous spirit.
Sabobo awaits — have a safe trip back.
